Every month we celebrate the interculturality of our school and, in September, we travel to one of the Caribbean islands: Barbados
Hello everyone! Last month we revealed something new to you that I'm sure you already love: we started a very nice project in the school activities called “The month of…”. In September we continue our trip around the world and make a stop in a Caribbean country… We celebrate “Barbados Month”!
Each month we will give prominence to one of the different countries of our students. Students from more than 80 countries come to our school, so our school becomes a “small world”, which is wonderful. Thus, each month we will dedicate it to learning a little more about the places and cultures from which our students come.
It is fantastic to enjoy this diversity of cultures every day. Sharing classes with classmates from all over the world makes learning much more interesting and enriching, and full of experiences! The teachers at Hispania, a Spanish school, say that “it's like traveling from class to other places every day.”
The first country chosen for this activity was Lithuania; We learned a lot about this beautiful Baltic country. And now… we are going to a country with a totally different climate! The country of our beloved student Nicolas Scott.
Nicolas has been learning Spanish at our school for 2 months and is very happy with the experience in Valencia and at Hispania, Spanish school. Furthermore, during his stay, Nicolas has participated in different leisure and cultural activities organized by the school, so he has great memories and experiences of our country. And he has made many friends from all over the world!
In the activity “The month of Barbados” we were able to enjoy a fantastic presentation that Nicolas prepared about his country. He taught us many things about this small and charming country in the Lesser Antilles and about tourism in Barbados, its gastronomy, language, history, curiosities...
Did you know that Barbados is one of the smallest countries in the world? It is one of the thirteen countries that make up the Antilles, Insular America or Caribbean Islands and is the easternmost of all the islands (east of Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent). Its capital is Bridgetown and… Did you know that the famous singer Rihanna Is he from Barbados?
After Nicolas' presentation, and to finish this approach to the country of Barbados, we enjoyed a tasting on the school terrace of the most famous cocktail in Barbados: the Rum Punch. Nicolas taught his classmates how to prepare this popular drink with rum, pineapple, lemon, orange and Angostura.
