This is the case of Carolina Rota, a former student passionate about Spain and MotoGP, who has returned to Hispania, Spanish school to make a DELE exam preparation course. We interview her below!
I have many favorite hobbies. In addition to the typical ones, such as listening to music, going out with friends, traveling, taking photographs and swimming; I also like everything related to Spain. In fact, Spain is arguably my favorite pastime! In Italy I watch Spanish TV, I search and read articles in Spanish... And I even have a corner at home that is my little treasure! In it, I have many books that I bought here in Spain. Furthermore, I love watching MotoGP and following my three favorite riders Marc Márquez, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa, although the latter two are retired.
Spanish is a language that has always fascinated me, since when I was little. In fact, when I traveled with my parents, whenever we came to Spain, I became engrossed in listening to the Spaniards speak in the streets, with that beautiful accent, with their smile and their characteristic joy. I think it was something natural, but since I was little I knew that Spanish would be my language.
In 2011, I enrolled in university and that's when I started studying it. However, it was not until 2013 when, through effort, I managed to learn grammar well, acquire a lot of vocabulary and speak it properly. Even though I studied Spanish at the university, if I had not applied myself personally, my Spanish would still be stagnant; so in 2015 I decided come to Valencia to give him the attention and affection that my, at that time, “lame Spaniard” deserved.
I chose this city because the previous year I had come to see a MotoGP race at the incredible Ricardo Tormo circuit. Since then, whether for vacations, motorcycles or study, I try visit Valenciaevery year. It is a charming city, as soon as you get to the center you find wonderful buildings, the parks and gardens are very well maintained, the weather is perfect, the food is delicious (I love paella) and the Valencians are so friendly and treat tourists with so much affection that it is normal to want to return so much. As I said, I love photography and there is not a single street here that does not deserve to be photographed. Although I have come to Valencia many times, it always surprises me!
Choosing just one is very difficult, since, in my opinion, even the smallest of streets could be a special corner. Among my favorites are, first of all, the Ricardo Tormo circuit and the City of Arts and Sciences. Although I cannot forget the immense park of the Turia River, the Bioparc and the Real gardens.
What I like most about Hispania, Spanish school It cannot be said only in a few lines; although I recognize that the affection, kindness and professionalism of the Team Hispania It's what I appreciate the most.
My first experience in Hispania, Spanish schoolIt was in the chalet on Bernat and Baldoví streets. I remember that chalet with great affection, so much so that, this year, before looking for the new building, the first thing I did was go to that street to see it. It was an amazing feeling, like going back in time!
My best memory in Hispania, Spanish school are the classes with the teachers Cris and Ana. With Cris I did the course in the morning and with Ana I studied for two hours in the afternoon. My Spanish needed a lot of attention and I couldn't be happier to have found them: they are two real Soles with a capital S! I will always be grateful to them and if my Spanish were a person, I am sure I would also say the same. 😉
Sincerely? The first impression was a mess. I didn't know exactly how the DELE exam worked and I didn't know how the course was structured. Fortunately, the first impression changed immediately, thanks to the attention received from when I was in Italy, while I waited to find out if the pandemic with which we are now living would behave and let me travel to Valencia. Here, at school, those thousand thoughts and doubts dissolved quickly. 3 weeks have already passed and I have to confess that the first week has been very hard, since it is a very intense course and there is a lot of work. The DELE examIt is an important test and in order to be well prepared for the exam, the course could not be less. Fortunately, with the passing of the weeks, the good atmosphere in class and the excellent quality of the classes, I think that in the end, no matter what happens with the exam result, the experience will have been worth it. In fact, I'm totally convinced of it!
I had heard about the DELE diploma on some occasions, but I did not consider taking the exam until I saw a post on Instagram from the school, which said “Did you know that the DELE diploma is one of the requirements to obtain Spanish nationality?” If it hadn't been for that post I would never have known that The DELE diploma is essential to obtain nationality. Because yes, in the future (I hope near), my biggest dream is to live in Spain and be Spanish.
From that day on, I think my brain was already sitting in the classroom waiting to start the course, that is, possibly if I had not opened my cell phone that day, I would never have known this, I would say essential, detail for my future nationality. Yes, because, in the near future, I hope, my biggest dream is to live in Spain and obtain Spanish nationality.
In order to pass this exam, it is important to opt for quality. For me, regardless of what my exam result is, I know that preparing for it in Hispania, Spanish schoolIt has been a guarantee. This can not only be seen in all their well-deserved awards, but also in the quality of teaching, the good atmosphere and the loving but always professional treatment that the team transmits to you. For me, all this is the best guarantee of quality.
The first impression upon arriving at school this time was exactly the same. It's as if I had never closed the door on 2015. I was very nervous and excited, but it has been great. Seeing the entire team and Ana and Cris again was wonderful. I felt supported again, because it is like a small family that never leaves you alone. Of course, the new chalet, without wanting to downplay the other, is impressive: the classrooms have digital super whiteboards, the outdoor areas, the terraces, the cafeteria... All 10.
I would tell him that it is taking him too long to sign up for a course. ;- ) If you asked me “Do you know where I can study Spanish?”, I wouldn't even let him finish the question... For me, if a person wants to learn in a school. There is only one option. There are many schools in this world, but the one that meets all the requirements for a perfect experience is Hispania, Spanish school.
Learning a language abroad has many benefits. First of all, it is being in contact with the language 24 hours a day, which means that just after a week, if you are already familiar with the language, you forget your native language. Personally, every time I return to Italy after spending time in Spain, I find it difficult to speak Italian again. Secondly, the more a person is among people, the more they can realize what they are learning and can give that touch of naturalness that is needed to learn a language. Finally, I think everyone has to spend some time abroad, because it changes you as a person. So far, all the seasons I had abroad (taking into account that I worked as an Aupair in two Spanish families, one from Valencia and the other from Zaragoza), were a resounding success. Without a doubt, traveling abroad to learn a language is worth it.
I was studying at university, but I decided to temporarily put aside my studies in Italy to come to Spain. Now I am studying the DELE preparation courseand my intention after that would be to stay longer and find work here. In the future, I would like to either work in the tourism sector or with children in daycares. I hope that learning Spanish will be useful for my future work, because, on a personal level, I feel that it is totally my language!
